 It was such a hard day with pain and depression and I was tired and cold and went out for a drive to pray. I stopped at Starbucks for something to warm me up. On the way into the store I was praying and asking God to encourage me. I found this penny and put it in my pocket. When I got home I pulled it out and saw that someone had put a sticker on it that says, “You are a child of God.” This is my most precious penny ever. |

I was telling my friend Amber who does my hair that we’d had a wonderful Christmas. The first one I can remember where the true meaning of the holiday really soaked into our celebrating. Somehow, this conversation led to me telling her the penny story. As I was getting out of the chair to leave I spotted a penny sitting on her station and asked her if it was hers. Her eyes got so big and she said, “I have no idea where that came from nobody pays me in pennies!” |

A four penny day. They weren’t all together but the one that I took a chance on was in the street. I was at a busy intersection waiting for the light to change and I saw a penny in the street on the driver’s side. The light changed and I couldn’t exactly get out of the car so I parked and went back for it. Later in the day a friend from Miami called to tell me that he’d found four pennies and so he threw them in the ocean and prayed for me. (Thanks Chief!) |

I found a tin in some old boxes in my basement and it was filled with pesos except for two pennies and a dime. Do I get to move to Mexico and play on the trapeze the rest of my life? Probably not! |

Walking around in downtown Boulder on Pearl Street with some friends that are very familiar with the penny thing. It got to be so funny because Bryan and I were diving toward pennies that we would spot on the ground. The two friends with us aren’t as into this symbol so we just enjoyed it ourselves. A total of 10 pennies. |

The summer solstice. I went out on my prayer walk and I was praying through some of the thoughts and feelings that I had been struggling with all summer. One of those was that I felt like I hadn’t quite forgiven someone. I was passing a house where I’ve found several pennies before (these people must have holes in their pockets) and right there were two pennies. Later that day, for the first time in a year, I ran into the person I needed to forgive and then found two pennies while I was talking with him. I get the message. It’s for (4)given! |

A penny in the dirt, in the dark, in the mountains at the Glade Park Movies with the kids. Junk food for dinner, a movie under the stars, and a penny to top it all off - that’s a good day! |

I was out walking and praying about whether or not to buy a hybrid car and as I was turning the corner a car drives by and a penny lands at my feet. I came home looked in the paper and found an ad for the car I wanted to buy. I went to the dealership and bought the car. I’d already done the research and knew what I wanted so it just worked. Getting into my SUV to go home I found a penny right under the running board. That’s fun!* |

I stood and watched a whole line of people order their coffee and walk by this penny and then when I picked it up and asked the man behind me if it was his. He looked at me like I was crazy. I guess you can’t be considerate anymore. I didn’t want to assume the penny wasn’t his. Besides he was very nice looking! |

I was out walking and praying and it was dark and I was using the moon as a metaphor asking God for the full harvest in my life. Hoping that all the experiences of the last few years would come full circle and reap a great harvest in my life. I get to the spot where I need to turn around and the moon will be at my back so I pause for a minute and as I turn I see in the rocks next to the path I’m on a bright shiny penny. My harvest moon penny! |

A noteworthy day overall. I found my first two "Pablo's Pizza Pennies" and made a great new friend. Two pennies followed later in the day.
At the time I wouldn't have expected that Pablo's would become a weekly "ministry" spot for me.

I love four penny days and it was such a sweet one giving out hats and mittens with a friend in the park and chatting with the folks we met. Four pennies followed as I was finishing out the day.

I was out walking and praying and almost hoping for a dime because I struggle so much with trying to make things happen on my own instead of letting God be God and work out his perfect plan. I was praying about this and came upon a dime in the street with some snow and leaves and running water going over it. It was priceless. Ten represents God's perfect order. Then I got a message from a friend saying he'd found a penny which added to the moment. Then I found a penny on the walk and felt like God was just reminding me to trust His perfect timing.

I found a penny on my prayer walk and when I was at the house my neighbor asked me if I’d found one and when I opened my hand to show him it wasn't there. I re-traced my steps because I just "had" to find it. I couldn’t. I had been praying when I found the penny about my tendency to strive for things and asking God to forgive me for what that striving represents. As I was re-tracing my steps I realized I was doing it again. Let the penny go. Maybe it will come back to you. |

I ran into an old friend at the supermarket. I haven’t seen her in over a year and we had a lot to catch up on. I was telling her about my adventures with the blog and while we were talking I found a penny. If you could have seen the look on her face. It was a real blessing to chat with her because I was reminded in the conversation of the incredible progress Chase has made. God has been so faithful with my boys!

I’ve found two dimes now that have been right in front of my friend Bill and he doesn’t even notice them. Just a month ago, literally, we are talking just like tonight and I notice a dime sitting right next to his foot. What draws my attention to them and not his? For the day a penny and a dime.

I was sitting at the Hotel Monaco bar journaling and just absolutely pouring my heat out to God in my journal and struggling to TRUST him. After about 30 minutes of writing I looked down at the floor and saw a penny sitting there just for me. It was my 6th penny of the day. I get the message Lord!

Today in my prayer time I felt like the Lord just told me to surrender. Surrender my hurt. He reminded me that I am made in His image and not defined by my past and the abuse that has been a part of it. I’ve struggled with believing that with all my baggage I have a future. It’s a constant battle to believe for it. Right after my prayer time I found four pennies just sitting on a counter at Target. Then as the day went on I found two more sets of four to make a total of 12. Okay I’m supposed to believe for (4) it….I know - I know but thanks for the reminder! |
